Scene 3 of 9

Few people film outside of a helicopter while it is flying. I thought a shot of the tail rotor might look good, so I let out my seatbelt to the maximum and stood on the skid. My body was totally outside the chopper with my camera pointed at the tail rotor. As I tried to reenter the cabin, I realized the slipstream had me pinned to the fuselage.

The crew chief reached out and took my camera and put it under his seat and we both struggled until I got one leg back inside. With that leverage I was able to pop back in.

My biggest fear was wasn't falling, it was dropping the camera and losing the shot after taking the risk. I don't think the crew chief ever mentioned my predicament to Chuck.
