Scene 3 of 13

The French who preceeded the Americans in Vietnam called these tribal people "Montagnard" or mountaineers. They call themselves Dega. Loyalty to Special Forces leadership was based on respect, a smile, and a handshake. There was not much in the way of complex political philosophy. The Dega had been mistreated by the Vietnamese for centuries and this was their chance to fight back. North or South Vietnamese were not all that different to them.
