At the time this photo was taken Mr. Stevens was in the process of applying to the University of Arizona's doctoral program in English Literature. He and his Polish-American wife spent two years in the Peace Corps in Argentina working with the Guarani people. Both of them speak fluent Guarani and both enjoy a good cup of Yerba Maté.
