Thomas McGovern PhD, graduated from Fordham University and was teaching at Arizona State University when he was struck down with Guillain-Barré syndrome. His old alma mater contacted me to do a portrait for a Fordham magazine article on "Transforming Trauma." Doctor McGovern said that he knew he was on the road to recovery when he was able to drive a golf ball 200 yards and change after being bedridden for 400 days.
