Rapid Transit System

This rapid transit car was designed by Roger Hawkins and Peter Gary as a senior thesis project for the Industrial Design department of Carnegie Mellon University.

Rapid transit systems with an independent right-of-way had been proposed for Pittsburgh as early as 1927, but when this design proposal was done in 1967, the city was still dependent on an antiquated street car system.

Roger currently does design consulting in Phoenix, Arizona and Peter Gary teaches Industrial Design at King Mongkut University in Bangkok, Thailand.
